HOW TO
DO WELL IN YOUR EXAMS
! !
Believe it or not! Success in exams is not necessarily about cramming better, borrowing note, using guides, or going for
tuitions~ The key to success in exams could revolve around the quality of your sleep~
A recent study amongst Stanford University
graduates revealed that their most important complaints were not getting enough sleep~ What~s true for Stanford University is true for students in India too~ The intense competition that we have today puts intense pressure to perform, particularly at exam time and sleep tends to assume the last priority, once the examination fever is on~
What every parent and every student should know about sleep~
The average requirement for students is 8 hour
of sleep~ If this requirement is not met, a kind of Sleep debt is created by
extra sleep by over your usual quota~
How cutting down on sleep can negatively effect your preparations for examinations~
It has been clinically proved that sleep deprivation leads to difficulty in studying, diminished productivity, tendency to make mistakes, irritability, and fatigue and memory lapses~ A well rested mind is able to concentrate more, grasp better, and retain more~
A note of caution if you intend driving yourself to the Exam Center~
Sleep derivation doesn~t just affect your
performance in Exams; it is a major killer on road also~ Drowsy driving accounts for an astonishing number of fatal road accidents~ And 55% of all fatalities due to drowsy occur under the age of 25~
What is the best time to study for the exams?
Opinions vary ~Some students study better at night~ Some during the morning or day~ In any case you have got to ensure that no matter what, you get at least 8 hours of sleep~
If you were dreaming of doing well in exams, do it the right way~
Just follow these tips on sound sleep~ And the
result will make you happy~
During exam-time, eat light non greasy food at night~ Avoid coffee, tea or coke before bed time~ Moderate protein intake, like a glass of Milk, could also help you sleep better~
Do a few simple yoga asans~They will help you relax, deal with stress, concentrate better and sleep better?
To relax and take a break from studies, do some moderate exercise~ A game of tennis works far better than an hour of
watching television~Listen to light relaxing music~ It helps
relieve stress and put you in right frame of mind for studies and sleep~
Try to live for a while in bed~ You will find it easier to go to sleep~
Don~t sleep next to the phone~ Remove the phone from the bed room, or install an answering machine and also switch the ringer off~
Recognize the signals that your body sends you, when you are tried~ Don~t fight with them go to sleep and rest assured
that you will make up for this supposedly lost time when you wake up fresh~
So all the best for your Exams and do well in your Exams~

Coming Of Age --- They Are
Aliens
It’s a whole new generation out
there, with new mindsets, habits and working styles and you better start
understanding them.
If men are from mars and women are
from Venus, is the species known as youth from the moon orbiting the distant
Pluto? There comes a moment in our lives when it certainly starts seaming that
way. And that is something you simply cannot afford if you are marketer in India
today.
Sociologists and media pundits
have honed in on this cruel fact. 54% of
India is
estimated to be under the age of 25. However, the consuming class i.e. the
target of most youth life style brands numbers approximately 16 millions. For
the purpose of this series of articles, we define this class as an urban youth.
The traditionally defined youth
demographic is ages 15 to 24. But this is this a homogenous mass? The youth at
15 and at 24 are two very different species.
The first is characterized by a
focus on career and consumption, limited by what the family can afford or thinks
is reasonable( less than 1.5 million youth is 12-21 are from socio economic
class A 1 +, where money is not any issue) but it’s the second that is actually
come into its own with BPO and other entry level jobs booming. The INDIE, or
financially independent young person, is a growing breed that needs to be
identified and targeted by the marketers.
Youth is no longer a mere transit
dharamsala between being a dependent of the family and creating one of
your own. It is a potent economic and cultural force. The consumer of today, the
growth engine of tomorrow
According to the president of an
advertising agency ~~in popular imagination, childhood was seen as the golden
era of life, while youth was something much more trouble some. Films about youth
in India were
about the restrictions youth faced and their attempts to break out of them now;
youth is far more celebrated phenomenon. Almost all cinemas are about youth and
the consumption of the youth and their pleasure seeking has moved centre stage.
At another level youth is a state
of mind everyone wants to hang on to, an image of hangout with. Where does youth
stop and sensible middle age begin? Much later than ever before. Older Indians
are comfortable with the idea of enjoying life, of experimenting and other
conspicuous and impulsive behaviour once considered inappropriate at this age.
Futurist faith pop corn sees it as
a global trends towards down aging—the tendency for older people to act and feel
younger than they are. So forty is the new thirty. Thirty is the new twenty.
Conversely, 10 is the new 15. The bhooth of youth is reshaping the collective
consciousness of India.
Finally the globalisation of media
and the mindsets has resulted in a new battleground – western V Indian values.
As of now, balancing the best of both worlds seems to be young persons chosen
response. This should not be seen as the victory for Indian culture though.
Increasing affluence may well lead to more radical choices for generations to
come.
For now, we set our sights on the
urban Indian youths and its aspirations, inspirations and perspirations
